What Are The Different Types Of Laundry Detergents?
If you've ever stood in front of the laundry detergents in the supermarket and thought, 'I have no idea what I am doing, you wouldn't be alone; the vast choice of products has always overwhelmed us too.
We've compiled a quick guide to each type to see which one suits you best.
Laundry Detergent Sheets;
These revolutionary strips are ultra-concentrated, plastic-free, and use mainly plant-based ingredients meaning they are much kinder to our environment and planet.
The packaging is lightweight and biodegradable, which vastly reduces the carbon footprint.
The solid pre-measured sheet dissolves quickly in cold or hot water to give a powerful but conscious clean. Zero plastic, zero landfill, zero waste!
Liquid Laundry Detergents;
These are the most common types of laundry detergent in the U.K, traditionally sold in large plastic bottles and requiring measuring each time you run a wash. Their formula is predominantly water and often contains bleaches, brighteners, chlorine and many other harmful chemicals.
Powder Detergent;
Whilst powder has some benefits over liquid detergents (often in card packaging instead of plastic), they usually come with a plastic scoop and carry handle. We also find that the powder detergents can leave a residue and fail to clean at lower temperatures as the granules do not dissolve well.
Laundry Pods
These are at the bottom of our list when evaluating the different laundry detergents available. Admittedly they are space-saving; however, they are packed with toxic chemicals and can be incredibly dangerous. The consumerreports.org site suggests any household with a child under 6 should not use them at all!
We hope our guide to the different laundry detergents has highlighted some pros and cons and helps you choose the right one.
